Dr. Gurminder K. Sahasi

PhD, AWP

Dr. Gurminder Sahasi is a licensed Clinical Psychologist with over 30 years of practice in India, the U.K. and the U.S. She has vast experience across diverse disorders and cultures, blending the wisdom of Ayurveda and Yoga into her healing practice.

Her training began in India where she earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Punjab University. She received additional training in Bangalore in Medical and Social Psychology, next earning her PhD in Psychology from Agra University in 1988. During her clinical experience in India, Dr. Gurminder served the India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi as a Research Officer and Clinical Psychologist. Beginning in 1995, she offered a full range of clinical psychology services for the National Health Service, U.K. as a Chartered Clinical Psychologist. During her decade in this role, she trained extensively in EMDR.

Dr. Gurminder relocated to the U.S. in 2006 where she performed the role of Counsellor at White Deer Run rehabilitation center in Pennsylvania, working with patients of drug, alcohol and substance abuse, as well as cases of severe trauma. Here she introduced yoga for therapeutic and relaxation purposes and led both group and individual therapy sessions.

She first arrived to the Bay Area in 2008 where she began working with the elderly managing cases of dementia and Alzheimer’s. Over the next decade, her practice focused on using humanistic, existential and expressive arts. During this time, she began her Level I Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor training with Kerala Ayurveda Academy with the intention of helping her family’s health, though she discovered a wealth of wisdom for her clinical practice in Ayurveda. She graduated from the Level II Practitioner program in 2016 and joined the Wellness Center’s integrative health team in May of 2017.
